9 Jul Augustenborg Slotspark
Schloss Augustenborg
Search for “Kunstkolonie Augustenborg” too.
Much quieter than peacocks
The princess (Princess Louise Augusta, by Claydies)
This has been chasing us all over the lawn
No need for hairspray with one of these
A real green meanie
Even flowers need a break now & then
Anyone for a swim?
Looks like the green meanie had a real fit of temper here!
10 Jul Augustiana again
Today we went back to Augustiana and had an amazing improvised tour around the old psychiatric hospital by its new owner.
What happens when an artist interferes with the architect’s work
TRANSFORMER – Julie Boserup
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is …
Crazy carpets – again to annoy the architect
Who would you like to go to the costume ball as?
Just imagine this plant drags itself up by its roots and starts to walk about.
Then it can tell you a story
Or two
About green time and just being a plant.
Now chickens are a completely different story. This one’s called Lisa.
A chequered Gerhild in the garden.
Can you see the dragon?
His highness collected some fantastic trees – like this Caucasian Walnut.
And quite a few MIGHTY oak trees.
11 Jul Trapholt museum in Kolding
Mr. Booth, can you see him at the top, in a thatched boot. (Website)
The Trapholt museum website https://trapholt.dk/en/
A comfy chair? (Nanna Kill – flesh chair)
The world famous Arne Jacobsen at work.
Some of his work.
In the sculpture garden. Lars Raven – White Rabbit.

Which is cooler, the cat or the cow?
Not arm waving 👋, but art waving 🍭!
12 Jul camp site near Århus
On the way to the baker in Kolding Gerhild discovered this.
After stopping overnight in the harbour camper corner, we drove to a campsite which is just south of Århus.
DCU Camping Aarhus Blommehaven
A seagull’s view of our campsite. We are under the blue dot.
Gerhild has a good book to read.
Evening stroll along the beach. You can just about see Århus to the left.
13 Jul walk in the Marselisborg Forest
Gerhild’s super ecological lettuce spinning net.
We walked through the forest this afternoon to see the infinity bridge art project (Web site for picture). It was really popular, even though it’s art…
Nice “Boy Scout” style bridges in the forest. It’s not art, just a bridge.
Guess what this shop is for. Yup, that’s right it’s a Skomager.
Love the local manhole covers. The arms show St. Clement with the anchor and St. Paul with the sword, the two patron saints of the local cathedral. See Heraldry Wiki.
The trees here remind me of Hänsel & Gretel and other creepy fairytales.
It’s hard work navigating through Danish forests!
Round off a hard day with some food and a little wine.
14 Jul visit Aarhus on the bus
First impressions of Aarhus. They changed the spelling from Århus for better compatibility with the Internet.
Nils Holgersson Watch out. Kim is coming.
A very kind, giant bear holds this slide for the children.
Gerhild prefers the dragon.
We went on a long, hot walk to admire some Danish architecture.
They call it the iceberg (Isbjerget).
All of those blue balconies!
The neighbours are not exactly blue with envy as their house is pretty cool too.
Gerhild is dreaming of the vikings.
Berlin’s Ampelmännchen haven’t got a chance against Aarhus’ Viking pedestrian traffic lights.
The eyes have it, the eyes have it.
Gerhild making a spectacle of herself…
15 Jul perfect washday weather
Our thatched laundry house. The early bird gets the best washing machine.
A fascinating sight – dirty socks going round and round.
Our sun blind is just right to hang up the washing.
Melon as a second breakfast. How often can you eat breakfast on one day?
Best get the raïta started for lunch. It’s dhal today.
Time to empty the toilet box. Pee is surprisingly heavy so the wheels are quite handy.
Today’s a good day to try out our panoramic, weatherproof side wall. Now which end is up and where’s the hammer?
16 Jul trip to the Aros museum for contemporary art
Our personal number 31 taxi into Århus.
The Aros museum with something from Olafur Eliasson on top.
Start at the top and work our way down.
The colours man, the colours.
Gerhild and her magic never-blue earrings.
Fabulous place to lounge around and around and around.
This piece is almost as big as the building! By Joana Vasconcelos It’s called Valkyrie Rán and is mind-bogglingly one of a series.
This fellow would be pretty big too, if he could stand up. Ron Mueck.
We thought, funny but that woman looks like Philippa Perry. As it is a tapestry by her husband Grayson, we were probably not wrong.
Not torsos but ginormous wooden stamps
This was very striking too.
Kim making this blog page on our last evening here. We have to move on tomorrow which is a pity as it would have been good to spend some more time here. Maybe that’s the best way to go?
17 Jul move to Silkeborg
Good camp site in Silkeborg, although the trees look a bit strange here.
Silkeborg, Denmark’s outdoor capital!
A cool tree
What a chick
A bit spooky
In the evening “Almost AC/DC”, a tribute band, kept us entertained from a safe distance.
18 Jul forest walk to Silkeborg Bad art centre
Denmark’s Lake District.
We bumped into this little fellow in the forest.
Well, he’s not that little actually. He’s a real Danish Troll (by Thomas Dambo).
Hans Christian Anderson’s Clumsy Hans on his goat on a plinth, which is the same as the plinth on the equestrian statue in front of Amalienborg Castle Where the royal family lives in Copenhagen. By Jørn Hansen.
Vann Mann by Oddvar I.N. Darren
This dandelion has grown really well! By Trine Brix: Mælkebøtte
19 Jul The whalecopter and a river walk
Camper fun in Denmark
Kim’s a bit dizzy after the ride. (Near the Århus Aros museum)
Today we walked along the river Gudenåen into Silkeborg.
There were lots of Vikings canoeing down the river today. Look at this Viking mum!
So what do you do with dangerous 250 year old oak and beech trees right next to the river bank?
Seductive sirens of course. (Søren Brynjolf)
Which of these sirens is the most seductive?
And which of these Viking soft ice creams is the most seductive?
20 Jul Joan Miró in the Jorn museum
Kim in a giant megaphone – nothing to shout about…
How do you like Man Ray’s clouds? I didn’t even know that he painted.
What is Kim up to?
Creating a virtual lithograph.
Jean Dubuffet’s “The walk”. AKA three cowboys.
Joan Miró tapestry.
Kim Booth “Make of it what you will”
Asher Jorn “The Turtle”. I’d never heard of him, but this museum is named after him. Nice green.
Gerhild listening to some boogie woogie on her headphones. Kim thinks she should have listened to Melonius Thonk.
21 Jul drive to Agger
Today we drove to Agger on Denmark’s NW coast, next to the Thy national park.
Agger is a small village, the houses widely spaced.
And this is how you sell your fantastic knitted products. Just drop the money in the letterbox.
Someone seems to be a real artist around here.
22 Jul Thy national park & another troll
Troll toilet.
Shelter for baby trolls.
The lighthouse at Lodbjerg in the Thy national park.
It’s “hang on to your hat” weather today.
Gerhild’s latest Danish friend. He’s called “ Ask Fra Ashøj”.
Isn’t he handsome!
23 Jul Walk to the beach
It takes about half an hour to walk from the camp site to the beach.
There’s a good sandy beach but the wind whipped up some dramatic looking waves. This area has a nickname “cold Hawaii”, saying that there are surfable waves but that it’s damn cold.
Agger seems to have been a small fishing village before the holiday homes arrived. This monument would fit in any sea-going fishing village I suppose.
The beach looks nice and sandy if occasionally interrupted by bunkers built on Hitler’s orders. He was apparently afraid that the allies would land here…
24 Jul Deep Forest Art Land
Today we drove to Deep Forest Art Land.
The forest itself and the stream flowing through it are really beautiful. What a place for young artists to practice their craft.
What is he he doing up there? It’s magic this forest.
Nice head.
Colourful stuff in the forest.
Kim getting bitten by a little tick.
Gerhild is so strong!
We found a nice small camp site just a few km south Omme Camping.

Today we drove to Rendsburg to meet up with Ulrike & Jojakim and to visit Nordart and monkey about a bit.
.
Lilly had her favourites too!

Cheeky. (Ren Rong)
Big family. (Chen Zhiguang)
With a unicorn. (Nina Murashkina)
26 Jul The Bülk Lighthouse
Today we asked Bear what he’d like to do on the last day. “Go to the seaside” he said, so off we went.
How do you like the view? “It’s all too far away” he said.
Is that better?
Some coastal wildlife.
Bear admiring the beach.
Nice camping motto.
This is the life!
Uh oh! It’s time to move on and leave the rain behind us.
That’s more like it. Gerhild is really getting into the swing of camping.
27 Jul Back to Berlin
What lovely friends we have upstairs.
Where shall we go next?
